Emirates boosts Airbus A380 flights to New York

Emirates is ramping up its flights to New York’s JFK Airport next year with the launch of a fourth daily service from Dubai on an Airbus A380 aircraft.

From March 8 2015, the superjumbo takes to the skies with 14 first class suites and 76 business class beds on the upper deck, and 399 economy seats on the main deck.

EK207 will depart Dubai at 2:50pm for an evening arrival into Kennedy Airport at 8:35pm that evening, with the return EK208 flight pushing back at 4:30pm for a 1:15pm touchdown in Dubai the following afternoon.

“New York is one of our busiest and most popular routes in the United States,” said Hubert Frach, Emirates’ Divisional SVP, Commercial Operations - West.

“Once in the US, our partnership with JetBlue adds even more seamless connectivity onto their network of 65 destinations from JFK.”

The additional flights to The Big Apple follow Emirates’ plans to send its A380s to Milan from December, and come as the airline unleashes free wireless Internet across its entire Airbus A380 fleet.

Interesting stuff. As a MEL based traveller, I wonder if this is worth listing as an option when heading to take a bite of the Big Apple.

Now, feeling a little shafted by VA it's either UA or EK if I want to leave directly. EK would be a very long trek though.

You're right, I actually meant to type 'UA or QF'.

Also I think CZ (China Southern) are probably offering some good fare for the budget concious MEL based traveller.

Travelling on EK to JFK, from Perth, is the only way to go. One stop, no stupid Sydney Airport and an A380 with a bar, have done it 3 times this year, for business and the bar is a great way to kill a few hours.

CX is also a good option.

CX is a good option. I've been hoarding my QF points for a while and am contemplating MEL to NYC in business class on CX as a 30th present to myself.

The advantage is you avoid LAX, but I've heard a few people complain about the length of the HKG to NYC leg. Mainly CX staffers.

CX is a 777, isn't it? Much better on an A380.
