EVA Air's Boeing 787 Dreamliner begins Brisbane flights on October 8

Taiwan's EVA Air will upgrade its Brisbane-Taipei route to one of the airline's new Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners from October 2019  – and when we say upgrade, we mean upgrade.

As of October 8, according to the Star Alliance member's schedule, those BR315/BR316 flights will shift from an Airbus A330 to the Boeing 787-10, which is crowned by 26 Royal Laurel business class seats styled by BMW's Designworks company.

We're talking a modern 1-2-1 layout which makes the most of the Dreamliner's spacious cabin, while the seats themselves convert into fully lie-flat beds.

There's also ample personal space around the seat, which is based on the same Thompson Vantage XL design as the Qantas Business Suite.

BMW Designworks made a deliberate decision to step away from conventional aircraft design and rethink the seats and the overall business class cabin based on more fundamental concepts of space.

Each seat is a comfortable 23 inches (58.4 cm) wide, reclining into a fully flat bed of 76 inches (193cm).

Premium passenger-friendly touches include adjustable privacy panels between the paired middle seats.

The seats put an emphasis on storage, including generous built-in storage cabinets.

There's also a wide seat-side shelf plus an extra-large tray table for working inflight.

While EVA Air's overall Boeing 787-10 business class colour scheme is muted, LED lighting provide hints of colour throughout the flight.

At Taipei, business class travellers can enjoy EVA Air's flagship Infinity lounge, where a funky design frames the usual amenities for working, dining and relaxing, including themed shower rooms for something different.

Great to see good old Brissie getting the love. Brisbane seems to be getting new products first out of all the Australian cities recently. First with the new qantas lounges, then with the airlines deploying new aircraft (like Korean air recently) and now with EVA. Great to see them replace the 222 with a 121 config. Being my home city, i won't mind this at all. Maybe I'll consider their biz class for going to Hong Kong while transiting thorugh taipei. They offer very competitive fares and no longer feels like i'm having a subpar experience.

In a way it's also cuz BNE market is perfect for 787s, and hence we seem to get the latest products.

Just a couple of years ago, BNE was flooded with A330 from SQ, CX, MH, QF, EY, CI, BR, KE. Only EK and VA and occasionally TG offered 777, and the old faithful QF 747 that goes to LAX. As A330 being retired, it's reasonable to see them getting replaced with 787/A350, and hence we see the latest products.

Just checked their website and there is a change from A332 to A333 from 1/12/18, both a 2-2-2 config in J but a fully lie flat and newer seats on the later aircraft.

Local Taiwanese press reporting that EVA's chairman said that the Dreamliner will be put on the Brisbane route in November.

EVA Air will introduce six Dreamliner Boeing 787s this year, including two 787-9s and four 787-10s with the larger fuselage.

The six 787s will mainly be equipped for regional routes and some long-haul routes. For example, from May onwards, Taipei-Vienna will be replaced by the 787-9, and in July, Taipei-Amsterdam will be replaced by the 787-9, and in November Taipei-Brisbane will be changed to the 787-10.

I just went through my seat selection on a EVA flight i booked a while ago for Xmas day.

It's showing the 787-10 and no longer the A333.
What a relief

If you want a window seat just check if it is one with the seat closer to the isle or the window, you can just make it out from the seat map right of screen which way it is configured.

Really like the look of the EVA product. Good to see some of the other cities getting the love, but would love to see them fly to Sydney at some point.

I was hoping they would have PE out of Brissie but it appears not :(
