Grab a bonus 10,000 Qantas Points on hotel bookings in Asia

Planning a jaunt to Asia? A bonus 10,000 Qantas Points are currently up for grabs on accommodation bookings made via the Qantas Hotels website.

Naturally, that includes destinations such as Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Shanghai, which is handy if you’re travelling to Asia on business or are even just enjoying a stopover before jetting onwards to London or Europe.

To earn the bonus points, you’ll need to book by 11:59pm on Tuesday August 19 2014 and spend at least $1,000 in a single Qantas Hotels transaction for stays in Asia through June 30 2015.

That’s valid at any Asian hotel, even if the property you book wouldn’t normally award Qantas Points.

If you do choose a Qantas partner hotel, the 10,000 bonus points come on top of your usual haul – so at three points per dollar, a $1,000 reservation actually serves up a full 13,000 points.

There’s no limit to the number of times you can net the 10,000-point bonus, but chances are you won’t also earn points directly with the hotel by booking your stay through a ‘third party’ website.

In many cases, be mindful that your visit won’t earn ‘qualifying nights’ or ‘qualifying stays’ with Hilton HHonors, Accor Le Club, IHG Rewards Club or Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) either.

If you'd prefer the bonus points or are staying at a hotel without a loyalty program, reservations can be made through the Qantas Hotels website.

So spend AUD$1000 via Qantas on a hotel that would make it 13,000 points and if using Plat. CC another 1500 points total of 14,500.

While I can see people earning this in Singapore and Hong Kong,  unless booking a 10-night stay in Bangkok unlikely to get it - decent 4/5* hotels are often in the US$100/night range and with the current issues some even cheaper

Yes, I can't imagine most business and casual leisure travellers spending so much for accommodation in Asia, unless they were staying for an extended period of time or at an uber luxe property.

I was staying at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok last month and it was $380 per night in a standard room the Peninsula is a similar price. So $1000 is a very easy spend even in Bangkok
