Here are the new 2019 cars coming from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz

Luxury car buyers will be spoiled for choice in 2019 as Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz land more than 30 new models down under.

The three biggest hitters in the luxury car world all have major introductions planned for next year, continuing the product offensive which has kept Australian buyers keen and committed through recent years despite a slight decline in sales through 2018.

Audi has its breakthrough E-Tron electric SUV (below) and its mid-sized A6 as headliners, BMW has top-end action with the 8 Series sports cars and the X7 that becomes its SUV flagship, while Benz’s headliners are the Mercedes-AMG four-door GT and an all-new GLE SUV.

Audi has already begun its work with the A8 flagship and smooth new A7 Sportback, with much more to come. The Q8 SUV will open the action in January, likely followed by the A6, A1, a facelift for the TT and TT-S, RS5 Sportback, Q3, E-Tron and updated R8.

“It’s the biggest year for us in the past decade,” says Audi Australia’s recently-appointed chief marketing officer, Nikki Warburton.

“Audi is in a strong position in Australia and we’re selling healthy volumes and have well-managed stock levels. With such a strong onslaught arriving over the next 12 months we’re confident.”

BMW is still finalising its launch program for next year, but has previews planned in Los Angeles at the end of the month which point to the action in 2019.

It’s unveiling the X7, the first BMW SUV with three rows of seats (seen above), and a convertible version of the 8 Series (seen below).

The Bavarian auto-builder is also pointing to the future of electric and autonomous cars with the Vision iNEXT, although there is no production plan yet.

At Mercedes-Benz, the program for 2019 continues the new-model onslaught of recent years which has made it Australia’s favourite luxury brand.

More than a dozen fresh Benzes are expected, spread from the baby A Class sedan up to the GLE SUV.

“It’s a typical year for us. It will similar to what we’re doing over the past few years,” says Benz spokesman, Jerry Stamoulis. “The C Class will be in full swing with the full range and one big addition is the sedan in the A Class.”

The Benz blitz also includes the family-focussed B Class and CLA coupe from the latest A-Class mechanical package, the four-door version of the raunchy AMG GT for families (above), and several electrified commercial vehicles.

“We’ve proven over the past few years that we know what the luxury buyer is after" Stamoulis declares, "and we’ll continue on that wave."
