Sydney's Hilton hotel now boasts an upmarket executive lounge to match the rest of the five-star hotel's slick style.
Part of a $7 million upgrade to the landmark Hilton Sydney, the lounge's relaxed yet sophisticated design makes the most of natural light, while raw materials including exposed concrete, glass and timber create an urban feel suited to the hotel's mid-city location.
Regulars will be quick to spy new touches such as communal and private alcoves and a redesigned boardroom.
Two communal tables encourage interaction and allows for groups to mingle together without disturbing other guests, while the enlarged boardroom now seats up to 12 guests and features sweeping views across Sydney.
Also on the make-over list: an expanded buffet plus a new bar alcove, which transforms from a coffee and juice bar in the morning to a bar at night serving evening drinks and canapés.

Experienced the old lounge in June and the refurbished version last night...courtesy of Virgin Platimum reciprocal Hilton Diamond status, I was upgraded from a basic room to a relaxation room, 30th floor - in a word, awesome!
Made sure I dropped by during the evening canapes session between 6pm and 8:30pm...the bar has been moved to a far more logical spot, opening up more space for the plentiful food offerings, the highlight of which was an entire sideboard dedicated to prawns and oysters as far as the eye could see.
Well done Hilton on transforming what was a clunky lack lustre space into something quite superb.

I wonder if they still have that quaint (at least for me) custom of pouring your alchoholic drinks for you in the Lounge. When I questioned it during a visit a few months ago, the General Manager told me it was because of NSW liquor laws and the responsible service of alcohol to guests. Seems their guests are not responsible enough to serve themselves. Either that or the Fruit and Vegetables Manager wants to haul in his costs in the lounge.

Oh ick it's tres ugly. It reminds me of the library in my high school, replete with orange plastic chairs, bare concrete pillars and all!
