In a nod to its up-market and tech-savvy clientele, Hong Kong’s Langham Place hotel in Mongkok will provide guests with an iPhone 4 fitted with a Hong Kong SIM card for free citywide calls.
The iPhone 4 will be part of the Essential Place Plus room package, available from January 1st 2010 from HK$2000 (AU$260) per night.
The smartphones are loaded up with the hotel’s own city guide, a Cantonese-English phrasebook, maps of Hong Kong, a guide to the city’s superb MTR metro system, a restaurant locator and information on how to match Hong Kong delicacies with wine.
Also bundled into the Essential Place Plus room is a Bose SoundDock digital music system, Nespresso machine and complimentary Wi-Fi.
This is the third of Apple’s highly-desirable pieces of iKit that Langham Place Mongkok has adopted,.
Earlier this year the hotel made six Wi-Fi iPads available for guests to hire and use in the hotel as well as out and about in Hong Kong (as long as they plonk down a deposit of HK$7,000 or A$920, leaving ample margin in case a guest adds an iPad to their check-out haul of soap and slippers).
Each iPad has the same apps as the iPhone 4 plus a selection of magazines and e-books. The concierge desk is also equipped with iPads to provide up to date information on the Hong Kong’s must-see and must-do attractions and also
Guests can also borrow an iPod Nano with recorded commentary by Langham Place’s art consultant and go on a self-guided tour of the hotel’s collection of contemporary Chinese art.
