Hong Kong's airline-themed Runway cocktail bar ready for take-off
As if Hong Kong didn't already have a dizzying choice of bars, here's one more to put on the to-visit list. Opening this week is the flight-themed Runway bar.
Located – where else – in the bar hotspot of Lan Kwai Fong, on Wyndham Street, the decor includes small propellers, aircraft windows and even wings.
And of course, alongside the standard cocktail menu you'll find aviation-themed concoctions such as Runway's signature Singapore: One Mile At A Time cocktail – a twist on the Singapore Sling with infused Pandan leaves, Beefeater Gin, pineapple and lime juice and kaya jam.
You can find Runway on the ground floor at the Carfield Commercial Building at 75-77 Wyndham Street, Central.

If you want retro style aviation experience try the Peninsular in Paris. The roof top restaurant has an old plane, which the restaurant is named after, that set a trans-Atlantic record in the '20s hanging in the light well, the motor in the reception lobby. The whole design is very refined. As an added bonus the sommelier is ex-Jacques Reymond and sympathetic to Australians, so he will dig out something you can relate to when you say "I quite like Chrismont's Nebbiolo"
