IN BRIEF | Japan Airlines will offer inflight internet connection on some international flights from 2012.
It will be installed into the airline's Boeing 777s initially, on routes between Japan and Europe, Japan and North America.
However, JAL says it will eventually equip its entire long-range fleet with the Panasonic Avionics eXConnect technology, which uses Wi-Fi in the plane's cabin and a satellite uplink for connection to the internet.
"There has been increasing demand for mobile Internet connectivity even in-flight as customers value the options to do work or stay in contact with family and friends while on the go and also to have alternative forms of in-flight entertainment especially for long hours onboard," JAL said in a statement.
However the airline is not yet disclosing how much the service will cost.
