New York's international airport (and the USA's busiest) is named after John F. Kennedy. Paris chose to honour French republican and president Charles de Gaulle.
And Jamaica? It's set to open an international airport named for author Ian Fleming, who wrote all of the James Bond books on the tiny Caribbean island.
Not that anybody should get too excited about Ian Fleming International Airport. It's just a new name for the old (very old) Boscobel Aerodrome, which is no threat to Jamaica's much busier Norman Manley International in the capital of Kingston, or Montego Bay's Sangster International.
But Jamaican politician Daryl Vaz – who pushed for the move to recognise 007's creator – says "the new name will significantly enhance the marketing of the airport and the area to the international aviation community."
Fleming's beachside villa, famously named Goldeneye, is located in Oracabessa, a town close to the Boscobel airstrip.
There's yet no word if the airport gift store will be flogging "From Jamaica With Love" postcards or T-shifts proclaiming "Live and Let Fly"...
