Japan Airlines mulls Sky Suites, first class on Sydney-Tokyo flights

Sydneysiders could soon be flying to Tokyo in Japan Airlines’ flagship business class Sky Suites or even first class as the airline contemplates an upgrade from the Boeing 777-200s to its flagship Boeing 777-300ERs on flights to Australia.

… and also offer first class, with the aircraft type now showing in the airline’s reservation system on Sydney-Tokyo flights over the peak Australian summer travel period, stretching from October 26 2015 through March 26 2016:

However, a Japan Airlines spokesperson affirmed to Australian Business Traveller that despite appearing in the schedule, a final decision to use the Boeing 777-300ERs on this route had yet not been made, but was expected by mid-August.

Should JAL forge ahead with its plans, it represents an expansion of a similar upgrade last summer which saw the newer Boeing 777s flying to Sydney between December 2014 and March 2015, during which time passengers could too make use of Japan Airlines’ Sky Wi-Fi inflight Internet.

JAL’s Oneworld partner Qantas is also ramping up its Tokyo flights from August with its Sydney services switching from Narita to the more convenient Haneda Airport, and the return of non-stop Brisbane-Tokyo Narita flights from August 1.
