Flights on Jetstar Japan will earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points and status credits from next month under an alignment of the low-cost Japanese carrier with its Australian parent.
Qantas points will be on the cards if you travel on Jetstar's Plus or Max bundles, with earn rates "the same as they are for Jetstar Airways (JQ) and Jetstar Asia (3K)" according to a Jetstar spokesman.
That comes out at 1 base point per mile on valid fares with a 100% bonus for Qantas Frequent Flyer Platinum members, 75% for Gold cardholders and 50% if you're a Silver.
Status credits are earned at the standard economy rate on Max fares but the lower 'discount economy' rate on Plus tickets.
There's also the option to claim Jetstar Japan reward seats using your points from Japan Airline's JAL Mileage Bank scheme.
Jetstar Japan and JAL are also entering a codeshare agreement enabling JAL customers flying internationally to Tokyo (Narita), Osaka (Kansai) and Nagoya (Chubu) to book onward travel on Jetstar Japan’s growing number of domestic services.
And beginning next month, Qantas will also sell Jetstar Japan through-fares and itineraries under an an interline agreement, with plans to step this up to full codeshare status as the Jetstar Japan "network and connection options expand over the next year."

Does this affect/change the lounge access (or rather the lack thereof) when flying Jetstar Japan as a Qantas Gold/Platinum (or the JAL Equivalents) member?
This hasn't really had an impact yet as Jetstar Japan doesn't yet fly any international routes (though, ones to Seoul, Hong Kong and China would be eagarly anticipated) but access to JAL domestic lounges (and the international ones when flying JQ International from KIX) would be a welcome improvement.

If u hear anything about lounge access would love to hear it! Tried to sneak into the JAL NRT domestic lounge using my QFF WP card reccently, lounge angel almost let me in, then she asked what flight (curiously she did not want to see a BP.....)
I wonder if this reciprocity will come into play with Jetstar Hong Kong.....lounge access and FF points might make the thought of switching from QF mainline for flights into China quite bearable....
