Jetstar launches Auckland-Singapore service

Auckland-based businesses can chalk up a new alternative for travelling to Singapore, with Jetstar launching a daily service between the two cities.

The two-class Airbus A330 isn't just to shuttle passengers from A to B: its timetable dovetails into Jetstar services to Jakarta, Manila and Ho Chi Minh City, and you can also cool your heels before connecting to Qantas' daily flights from Singapore to London and Frankfurt.

Welcoming the new route, Jetstar Group CEO Bruce Buchanan said the Singapore-Auckland service "connects two important parts of Jetstar’s pan-Asian network, allowing us to bring competition and low fares to the Singapore and Auckland market whilst giving customers many more low fare options to access cities beyond on the Jetstar network."

To kick things off the airline is offering one-way 'JetSaver Light' fares online from NZ$249 in economy and NZ$699 in the StarClass business cabin. The fares are on sale through to midnight March 21 at Jetstar.com with travel for various dates until October 2011.
