Lufthansa, Porsche team up for first class driving experience
Here's a good reason to turn up early for your next Lufthansa flight, or book an extended transit between flights: the opportunity to take a Porsche 911 or Panamera for a three-hour spin.
The German marques are teaming up to offer this unique experience ahead of first class and private jet flights out of Munich Airport, following the program's success at Frankfurt.
The Porsche First Class Excitement package is available to all Lufthansa, Swiss or Austrian Airlines passengers, Lufthansa HON Circle members or Lufthansa Private Jet guests holding a first class ticket for that day, Lufthansa says,
"With Lufthansa First Class, we offer our customers the highest travel quality" explains LH exec Thomas Klühr.
"This is suitably complemented by the exclusive offer from Porsche, which turns the waiting period before take-off into a luxurious experience."
The Porsches are supplied through Lufthansa partner Avis at a special rate of €99 for three hours covering 150km and fuel, with each additional kilometre charged at €1.
There's also the option for a full 24 hour rental starting from 200km at €304.
And the bit we really like? You can download a series of 'route suggestions' based on a driving excursion from Frankfurt airport (we're sure a similar ebook for Munich-based motoring will follow).
Add that to the luxury of Lufthansa's exclusive first class terminal at Frankfurt – which includes a whiskey bar, cigar lounge, bath suites, private cabana rooms and a Porsche to whisk you straight across the tarmac to your awaiting jet – and we feel a very long stopover in Frankfurt should be on the cards.
Travellers can reserve their Porsche online at LH.com/porsche or with the Lufthansa First Class Personal Assistant in the First Class Lounge.

First class cost so much, that they could give car rent for free. And extra charge for mileage looks plainly ridiculous.
