Lufthansa, Swiss join Singapore Airlines' HighFlyer rewards scheme
Business owners can now earn HighFlyer points in Singapore Airlines’ reward scheme for businesses when travelling on Lufthansa and SWISS flights between Singapore, Germany and Switzerland, including on tickets beginning in Australia with a flight on Singapore Airlines.
To earn points, the business just needs to make their reservation through Singapore Airlines or SilkAir, and book their Lufthansa or Swiss flights on an SQ (Singapore Airlines) or MI (SilkAir) codeshare flight number.
For example, Lufthansa flies daily from Singapore to Frankfurt. Book that flight on its ‘normal’ flight number (LH779) and you’d earn no HighFlyer points – but book that same flight under the Singapore Airlines codeshare flight number, SQ2008, and HighFlyer points can be earned.
As with Singapore Airlines’ flights, business owners will earn five HighFlyer points per SGD$1 spent on eligible airfares with Lufthansa and Swiss, except for amounts paid in taxes, fees and surcharges, while the business traveller can continue to earn Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles at the usual rates.
Businesses don’t earn HighFlyer points when a traveller attaches a Virgin Australia Velocity membership number to their booking, although as Velocity points aren’t awarded on codeshare flights operated by Lufthansa and Swiss anyway, linking a KrisFlyer number instead rewards everybody.
As always, you can double-dip – or even triple-dip, if you’re a business owner – by paying for your flights with a points-earning credit card or charge card.
Entrepreneurs can earn two Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles per dollar spent on airfares charged to an American Express Business Platinum Charge Card, including these codeshare flights served by Lufthansa and Swiss, as well as bookings made with other carriers.
Planning a personal trip instead? You could also earn two KrisFlyer miles per dollar spent with Singapore Airlines on the personal AMEX Platinum Charge Card, or 1.5 KrisFlyer miles per dollar spent on these and most other charges using the American Express Explorer credit card.

This is good news. However be very careful with this program. It is extremely complex for travel agents and end users to use and I have missed out on a number of HIghflyer points. It is not as user friendly as QF Business rewards program or BA program. I have made many email contacts to SQ HIghflyer to do retro claims however this is also extremely frustrating. All travel has been in F or J yet it appears they do not value this to much. Even to register travelers is not easy. SQ you need to improve the users experience on this. In the both my travel agent and I gave up! Very disappointing experience.
