Malaysia Airlines ramps up Adelaide-Kuala Lumpur flights

Qantas partner Malaysia Airlines will boost its Adelaide-Kuala Lumpur flights to five services per week from July as the airline continues its Australian growth.

From July 5 2018, the airline’s fifth weekly flight will depart Kuala Lumpur at 10:20pm on Wednesdays – running as MH139 and arriving at 7am the following morning – with the Adelaide-KL leg returning on Thursdays as MH136, pushing back 8:15am to reach KL at 2:30pm that afternoon.

Using an Airbus A330 aircraft, Malaysia Airlines offers fully-flat beds in business class, with most of the cabin in a 1-2-1 layout…

… and some rows in a 1-2-2 configuration, in which couples can sit together nearby the window (as shown in front of and behind this solo flyer):

“Malaysia Airlines was one of the very first international carriers to service Adelaide, and they’ve continued that support for almost three decades,” said Adelaide Airport Managing Director, Mark Young.

“They have shown faith in the Adelaide market after a period of restructuring and we’re delighted that there is increasing demand for the sector,” Young added.

Malaysia Airlines will also resume Brisbane-Kuala Lumpur flights from June after previously axing the route in 2016, and is also planning to bump up Perth-Kuala Lumpur flights to a double-daily service as demand allows.

The airline currently flies from Adelaide to KL on Sundays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays; and from Kuala Lumpur to Adelaide on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Awesome to see ADL getting more attention from the likes of QR, EK, and MH. Hopefully SQ can follow suit too!

Great news for Adelaide. All AAL need to do now is fast track an upgrade to the International arrivals.

The current arrivals hall is no different to the old one, too small and cramped. Not the greatest 1st impression to the city.

This is good news.I find arriving into Adelaide with those early morning arrivals a joke to be honest.upgrades are needed fast otherwise most of us depending on where we are flying from will fly into Melbourne,Sydney or Perth and get a domestic flight onwards.I have not flown international ex ADL in quite a few years but am keen when I flew QR later this year to see if things have changed.if all turns out well QR will get more business from me,their schedule works well for me.
