Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrid range offers the best of both worlds

The Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrid range combines electric and petrol engines to reduce fuel consumption without compromise. The result: no range anxiety on those longer trips, impressive performance figures, and reduced emissions and fuel consumption – all without diluting the Mercedes-Benz driving experience or skimping on comforts.

The hybrid technology means that when the car is not using the petrol engine, you can enjoy fully electric, emissions-free driving in the city for around 30km and the ability to plug the car into your standard electrical wall socket to charge it.

An added bonus is the improved overall performance, thanks to the instantaneous power of the electric output in conjunction with the petrol engine – so now you can have a car that’s not just greener, but also exciting to drive.

In terms of charging times, the Mercedes plug-in hybrid range takes around 2.5 hours to fully charge from your standard domestic wall socket.

Mercedes also offers a separate wall -box charger that can be installed at your home or business in order to cut the charging time in half.

Additionally, Mercedes’ hybrid technology isn’t just limited to small city cars - the German carmaker is currently offering 3 different models with Plug-in Hybrid technology, including the C 350 e, GLE 500 e and S 500 e.

Mercedes-Benz C 350 e Sedan and Estate

Mercedes’ C-Class model range gets the Plug-in Hybrid drivetrain in both sedan and estate variants.

The C350 e Plug-in Hybrid has a full-electric range of 31km, but also offers 205kW of power and 600Nm of torque, making it economical but spirited.

Mercedes-Benz GLE 500 e SUV

The GLE 500 e SUV is Mercedes’ first plug-in hybrid SUV, and compared to the standard drive version of the GLE 500, you quickly see why the plug-in hybrid technology is so compelling – the hybrid version offers a similar amount of power and acceleration, but with a fraction of the fuel consumption.

Mercedes-Benz S 500 e

Mercedes’ renowned S-Class model range also has a plug-in hybrid variant, using the same drivetrain as the GLE 500 e. Thanks to the plug-in hybrid system, it uses just 2.8L of fuel every 100km while maintaining a sprightly 5.2 second 0-100km/h time and packing in all of Mercedes’ latest technology.

The best of both worlds

The Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrid technology offers the best of both worlds – no range anxiety for longer trips, impressive performance figures, and reduced emissions and fuel consumption without compromising on the driving experience.
