There's finally an Australian release date for the 4G version of Microsoft's Surface 3 tablet, and a price tag to go with it.
The 'when' is 28 January, and the 'how much' is $979 with 128GB of solid state storage preloaded with Windows 10.
That's $140 more than the WiFi-only 128GB model, which isn't a bad deal is you rely on 4G (with a fallback to 3G) for fast almost-anywhere connectivity – just load it up with a SIM card and data plan on your choice of Aussie network, with the option to drop in a local prepaid SIM if you're travelling.
However, you'll still need to shell out a little more if you want the Type Cover keyboard ($180) or Surface Pen ($60).
Oh, and there 'where'? The 4G Surface 3 will be available from the Microsoft Store in Sydney, the online Microsoft Store plus Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi.
