New Kindle Fire HD tablets, ereaders hit Australia next month

Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD tablets and Paperwhite ereader will hit the Aussie market in early October.

Independent online retailer and Kindle specialist Readershop.com.au will import both of the new Kindles, along with the updated first-gen Fire and entry-level 6 inch Kindle.

“They’ll be available between 8- 11 of October” ReaderShop’s Leonardo Crespo told Australian Business Traveller, with next-day delivery, “but we don't know the prices yet. We'll know around 3-5 October.”

Crespo says the Kindles will all come with a one-year local warranty plus the company’s standard Australian accessories kit of an overseas power charger, in-car charger, spare USB cable and  a DVD loaded with almost 30,000 free ebooks.

The Android-powered Kindle Fire HD tablets have caused a significant stir in the market, with models available in both 7 inch and 8.9 inch screen sizes, with the larger model also sporting an Apple Retina-style super high-resolution display.

The Kindle ‘Paperwhite’ is an upgrade to the more conventional 6 inch Kindle ereaders but enhanced with a crisp higher-res front-lit display and 25 % more contrast for better reading in any lighting conditions.
