New pay-per-entry Plaza Premium Lounge in Kuala Lumpur Airport

New pay-per-entry Plaza Premium Lounge in Kuala Lumpur Airport

There's a new buy-your-way-in lounge in Kuala Lumpur from the Plaza Premium Lounge network, which is also affiliated with Priority Pass and other lounge-access cards. It's ideal if you're travelling in economy from KL and don't have lounge-access frequent flyer status on the airline you're flying.

Located in the Satellite Building -- where international flights operate -- the lounge offers a chic, swish place to wait for your flight.

In addition to the spacious seating areas, there's a business centre, meeting rooms, wifi and computers for your use.

If you'd rather chill out than get things done, there are showers and massages available too.

Food options sound solid as well: all day dining from a buffet and salad bar featuring chicken biryani and basmati rice, soup and freshly-baked rolls, and a noodle bar specalising in Hakka Pan Mee noodles.

Snacks like pandan, cupcakes and yoghurt are also available.

Thirsty and sleepy passengers will appreciate the barista serving up java coffee, as well as the range of draft beer, wine and spirits at the bar.

Hong Kong interior designer Kinney Chan designed the lounge, along the lines of its Plaza Premium sister in HK airport, and it features a mother-of-pearl reception wall, crystal chandelier and NZ wool carpets.

I quite like it, it's very current in terms of design. Looks quite nice for a pay-per-entry (for those of us who have been spoiled by Qantas!).

Yeah, big improvement on the old one, too.

I'm actually more interested in KLIA's Malaysia Airlines Platinum Suite lounge which is only accessible to MH's Enrich Platinum members. This lounge is meant to be more luxurious than their First Lounge. I'm curious as to whether oneworld Emerald frequent flyers will get access!

Any ideas anyone?

That would seem to be a logical supposition, although don't get your hopes up -- other oneworld carriers (cough cough BA) restrict their very best lounges.

Yes, I know BA blocks access to the Concorde Room to everyone but First passengers. This is similar to SQ's Private Room.

I just find it interesting that MH has the 'opposite' in that Business is for Business/Enrich Gold, First is for First and their highest level lounge is for Platinum members.
