British Airways brings the A380 back to Singapore

British Airways will upgrade its daily London-Singapore service to an Airbus A380 in March 2024, reflecting continued optimism in the recovery of travel.

The Oneworld airline’s timetable now shows its popular BA11/BA12 flights will switch to a daily superjumbo as of March 31, delivering a dramatic boost in capacity from the 299 seats of the Boeing 777-300ER to the 469-seat A380 – an increase which will also see business class capacity almost doubled from 56 to 97 seats.

However, it will also be a downgrade for business class flyers, with the BA 777 sporting the airline’s modern Club Suites but the A380 still burdened by the crowded Club World seats on the 13.5 hour route.

As previously reported, British Airways has committed to refurbishing its A380s with not only those vastly-improved Club Suites but all-new first class suites.

• BA11 departs London Heathrow T5 at 7.30pm to reach Singapore at 4.50pm the following day
• BA12 soars out of Singapore’s Changi T1 at 11.20pm to land back in London at 6.15am one day later

Travellers departing Singapore on BA12 have a wealth of lounges to choose from:

• Business class passengers, BA Executive Club Silver members and their Oneworld Sapphire equivalents can choose between the British Airways Singapore Lounge and Qantas Singapore Business Lounge (in fact, as these lounges are next door to one another, there’s no reason you can’t sample both)
• First class passengers, BA Executive Club Gold members and their Oneworld Emerald equivalents can make a beeline for the excellent Qantas Singapore First Lounge
• However, we rate Qatar Airways’ Singapore Premium Lounge as the bets bet for both business and and first class flyers.

The London-Singapore-Sydney ‘Kangaroo Route’ service of BA15/BA16 will also switch from the current Boeing 787 to a Boeing 777 in late October 2023, putting Club Suites back on the route, until the Dreamliner’s return on March 31, 2024.
