New Priority Pass lounge opens at Hong Kong
The upmarket Chase Sapphire Hong Kong Lounge is a sign of what’s to come in the fledgling Chase Sapphire network.
Travellers passing through Hong Kong Airport can now add a fresh lounge option to their stopover plans, with the Chase Sapphire Lounge rolling out the red carpet this week and putting Priority Pass and Lounge Key members on the guest list.
It’s the first of several Chase Sapphire Lounges from US-based JPMorgan Chase, which rank as headline perks for the firm’s premium Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card.
(Other Chase Sapphire Lounges will begin sprouting in US airports from 2023 at locations including New York, Las Vegas, Washington DC and Boston.)
Located on the upper level of Hong Kong Airport’s main Terminal 1, near Gate 40, the Chase Sapphire Lounge is a stylish make-over of independent The Club Lounge, and sits in the airport’s ‘orange zone’ for passengers flying to anywhere but mainland China, including all travellers in transit through the airport.
Other lounges in this zone include Cathay Pacific’s The Pier and two Plaza Premium Lounges near gate 35 and gate 60; at the time of writing, the Amex Centurion Lounge remains closed.
But the Chase Sapphire Lounge is definitely taking the high road when it comes to a premium experience with an à la carte dining room featuring a seasonal menu (with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options), and a tended bar serving everything from wines and cocktails to local beers.
There’s no shortage of AC/USB outlets to give your travel tech a top-up before the flight, plus of course complimentary high-speed WiFi and a row of semi-private nooks suitable for dining and working.
Local newspapers and magazines will also be available to browse on your laptop, phone or tablet.
The Chase Sapphire Hong Kong Lounge is currently open daily from 8am to 10pm, but “will continue to phase in longer hours as time goes on.”

Looks nice but small -and those booths remind me of seating in the similarly small Thai Star Gold Lounge at Changi. The Plaza Lounges at HKG are particularly lck lustre, as are the SingaPoreInc First and Business lounges. The demise of our United Global First Lounge mean we have slim pickings now at HKI A- Amex Centurion, just passable, excellent Cathay Pier First with sidekick Bridge First only for self serve champagne and cabana HKIA is probably finished long term for Westerners. But it has a billion person customer base right next door, so Onward and Upward. And given Airbus and Boeing manufacture in China for the world's largest market, South/SE Asia where middle classes of said exceed the entire population of USA , perhaps also Europe, its the New World Order
