How to find your ‘secret’ personal Uber rating
Uber drivers are able to rate passengers after every ride.
Uber passengers are invited to rate their driver at the end of each ride – but did you know that drivers can also rate passengers?
Every time you hop out of that Uber ride, your driver has the opportunity to give you a customer score between one to five stars.
It’s the exact same system which you can use to rate your driver, and is based on your behaviour – or rather, the driver’s perception of your behaviour – during rides.
And every time you request an Uber pick-up, your personal Uber rating appears under your name in the driver’s Uber app.
This gives drivers the opportunity to ignore requests from low-rated passengers.
Here’s how you can discover your personal Uber rating and five simple ways to boost it.
How to check your personal Uber rating
Finding out your Uber customer rating is quick and easy.
1. Open the Uber App on your phone
2. Go to your profile by tapping the profile icon located in the top right corner of the app
3. Your Uber rating will be displayed right under your name, shown as a number out of 5 stars.
(Clicking the rating brings up a screen explaining how the Uber passenger rating system works).
This is an average rating across all the Uber rides you’ve taken, so don’t get too concerned if you don’t have a perfect five-star rating.
Very few people do, and the rating can be influenced by a wide range of factors – including if you’re taken an Uber ride in the US and didn’t tip what the driver felt was a sufficiently generous amount.
Five tips to improve your Uber rating
1. Be ready and punctual: time is essential for Uber drivers, as their earnings often depend on how efficiently they can complete rides.
“Partner-drivers love it when riders are ready to go when they arrive at the pickup location,” Uber says. “That includes making sure the location you entered is actually where you'll be.”
To avoid keeping your driver waiting, ensure that you’re ready to go when they arrive. Set your pickup location accurately, and if there’s a delay, inform the driver using the in-app messaging feature. Being on time can leave a positive impression and prevent unnecessary frustration.
2. Respect your driver and their vehicle: treat the driver and their car with courtesy and respect. Always greet them with a friendly attitude and avoid any rude behaviour. If they have an particularly nice and clean car, especially on the inside, compliment them on it.
3. Give clear directions, If needed: while Uber’s navigation system usually guides the driver, you might be able to offer better directions, especially if you’re very familiar with the area (such as your pickup or drop-off location) or the route.
Politely suggest shortcuts or better ways to reach the destination. At the same time, avoid being critical of their driving or the route unless necessary.
4. Be polite and courteous: kindness and politeness are often reciprocated, and being respectful throughout the ride can improve your overall experience.
Greet the driver at the start of your journey and thank them at the end. Like so much else in life, it comes back to treating others as you would like to be treated yourself.
5. Be understanding of traffic and other factors: Not every delay or hiccup is the driver’s fault. Traffic jams, roadworks, accidents and unexpected detours can happen, and drivers have little control over such situations. If your trip takes longer than expected, try to stay patient and understanding rather than getting frustrated.
Your Uber rating is a reflection of your behaviour and attitude as a passenger. By being punctual, respectful, polite, and understanding, you can improve your rating over time.
Not only will this lead to better experiences with Uber drivers, but it can also help ensure smoother rides and more reliable service in the future. Following these simple tips will help you maintain a high rating and enjoy more pleasant trips with Uber.

4.92 rating, must have been that driver who chased me down because he believed I should have tipped him more in Las Vegas for the below 5.0 rating.
