Two massive new lounges are coming to New York’s JFK airport
These independent ‘state of the art’ lounges will be available to all passengers.
New York’s JFK Airport will open a stunning and sprawling new Terminal 1 in 2026, and the T1 loungescape is already beginning to take shape.
‘The New Terminal One’, as JFK T1 styles itself, this week revealed plans for its first two lounges.
These will be independent of the airlines and alliances flying out of T1 – a roster which currently includes Air France, KLM, Etihad Airways, EVA Airways and Korean Air.
The larger lounge will be 9,100ft2 – 845m2 – and conveniently located just past the security checkpoint.
There’ll also be a 4,000ft2 (370m2) lounge before security, in the public or ‘landside’ section of the terminal, to cater for both arriving and departing passengers.
“To support our ambition to be among the top five terminals in the world, we are seeking lounge partners who share our mission to create extraordinary moments for our guests as they journey through the largest dedicated international terminal at JFK,” says Simon Gandy, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of The New Terminal One at JFK.
“These lounges provide a fantastic opportunity for operators to reset the bar and showcase state-of-the-art amenities and experiences that are like no other, to the thousands of passengers who will pass through our doors every day.”
Built on the sites of JFK’s T1, T2 and the former Terminal 3 – the majestic Pan American terminal demolished in 2014 – The New Terminal One will have a footprint of 2.4 million square feet (223m2), making it the largest terminal at JFK.
Part of a US$19 billion redevelopment of JFK, the terminal and 14 new aircraft gates are set to open in 2026, with nine more gates to follow by 2030.
