Qatar Airways Privilege Club status extensions to December 2023
All Privilege Club members will enjoy an extra nine months of status and perks.
Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club keeps piling on the perks for frequent flyers, with the planned March 31 end of those rolling status extensions now being pushed back to December 31, 2023.
The airline has confirmed to Executive Traveller that Privilege Club will see a ‘status surprise’ via email and automatic updating of their Qatar Airways smartphone app showing Platinum, Gold and Silver status now locked in until years’ end – despite not earning sufficient Qpoints to warrant any extension.
This generous gift of gratis status also encompasses those who applied for Qatar Airways' popular status match promotion back in May-June 2020, which targeted members of competing frequent flyer programs including Virgin Australia – although of course Qatar Airways is now a partner of Virgin Australia.
And with the Gulf carrier also a member of the Oneworld alliance, this also sees Qatar Airways Privilege Club status delivering a bevy of practical perks on Virgin’s arch-rival Qantas, including access to Qantas first class lounges (and the equivalents of British Airways, Cathay Pacific, JAL and others) for those holding a Privilege Club Platinum card.
Unless we’re mistaken, this counts as the fifth status extension granted to Qatar's Privilege Club cardholders since March 2020, when the pandemic first struck.

Thanks David. I was just checking my status this morning and noted that my platinum status was extended until Dec 2023.
In the last month I’ve travelled J class on Qatar airways, Thai airways and Etihad Airways, Q suites hands down the best business class product including the service etc. I also travelled F class on Emirates, I can only imagine what F class be like on Qatar.

Just amazing is all I can say, I expect some great things to come in the future with Qatar and the Virgin tie up, I can see it being another Singapore Airline where you can transfer Digital currency between both of them. And how would that impact the Qatar / Qantas tie up.

I have yet to fly on a single Qatar flight. Amazing.

By far and away the best Platinum status in Australia. All the benefits of top tier on both QF & VA. One size does fit all :)

Does anyone know if this extension applies also to accumulation, or is it status extension only? Asking for a friend who is currently a member with no status but is taking a round trip to Australia from Cyprus in May, which would bump him up one level.
