Singapore Airlines adds fifth daily Sydney-Singapore flight
Expect five flights a day between Sydney and Singapore from next year as the Star Alliance member gears up for growth.
Singapore Airlines is adding a fifth daily flight to Sydney to cope with continued demand, bringing the schedule back up to pre-pandemic levels.
Slated to begin on 27 October 2024, with bookings going live “progressively” through the Singapore Airlines website and travel agents, the new SQ201/SQ202 service will provide even more options for travellers to tap into SQ’s flights to the UK and Europe, as well as key destinations across in Asia, with streamlined connections at Changi Airport.
- the SQ202 Boeing 777 will depart Sydney every day at 6.45am to reach Singapore at 11.50am
- the SQ201 Airbus A350 leaves Singapore at 7.10pm, making an overnight journey to land in Sydney at 5.55am the following day
SQ201’s Airbus A350 is decked out with Singapore Airlines’ long-range business class, which many travellers prefer over the medium-range seat.
“Locking in these increased services for the year-end peak period provides a great opportunity for Australians to start planning their 2024 travel to secure the best fares possible,” notes Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Mr Louis Arul.
“These additional flights provide even more options for Australians heading to Europe and Asia, with great connections through Singapore Changi Airport, for business, holiday or to connect with friends and family.”
It’s also noteworthy that all five of these Singapore Airlines flights are direct, non-stop services – when the airline previously boosted Sydney to five flights a day, one of those had a stopover at Canberra to collect additional passengers from the capital city.
In fact, the new flight means Sydney will become the largest port in the Singapore Airlines network based on capacity, with more than 12,000 seats available for passengers each week.
“Sydney Airport is really proud to be Singapore Airlines’ home away from home, and it is clear that Sydneysiders can’t get enough of their world class service,” says CEO of Sydney Airport CEO Geoff Culbert.
Singapore Airlines is also boosting Adelaide to ten flights a week as of 27 October 2024, with SQ276/SQ277 taking wing on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, alongside the current daily SQ278/SQ279; both services will be flown by a Boeing 787-10 with Singapore Airlines’ regional business class seat.

If Qantas won’t provide capacity to meet demand others will fill the gap.
