Although sharing the same footprint, the lounge feels considerably larger and more inviting.

First look: Singapore Airlines’ refreshed London Heathrow lounge

Six months is a long time in travel. Airlines can come and go; the latest business class suites take flight. For Singapore Airlines, six months has given its SilverKris Lounge at London Heathrow an entirely new lease on life, through a top-to-bottom makeover.

It’s more than a fresh lick of paint too, with the Terminal 2 hangout now sporting an elevated look and feel across both the first class and business wings.

This includes more modern seating and a reconfigured layout, delivering a greater sense of space than the previous iteration, plus overhauled menus at the business class buffet and first class á la carte dining room.

Tech has been upgraded too: Type G outlets, USB-A and USB-C ports are in reach of most seats, including high-backed productivity pods (the same design found in Perth Airport’s recently-opened SilverKris Lounge) and a new business zone.

Sitting to one side of the lounge area, near the entrance to the restrooms and showers, the business zone features a long communal table and high bench lined with bar stools.

USB ports have also been added to the first class dining tables, making it easy to keep your devices charged when tucking into made-to-order Singaporean staples like Hainanese chicken rice or the iconic laksa.

Perhaps the most welcome change though is to the four-seater business class bar, which is stretched to now sit up to 10, with a bartender at hand to pour premium wines or spirits, or mix up a cocktail, like the classic Singapore Sling.

Shower suites have been refreshed: four in the business class wing and two in first, each stocked with hairdryers and a selection of fragrant toiletries.

Located near Gate D36 in Terminal 2’s B Concourse, the SilverKris lounge welcomes suite, first class and business class passengers, plus KrisFlyer Elite Gold, PPS/Solitaire and Star Alliance Gold status holders in its 192-seat business class wing.

The more intimate, 50-seat first class wing is reserved solely for Singapore Airlines and Star Alliance passengers flying in First/Suites class and Solitaire PPS Club cardholders.

Velocity Gold and Platinum frequent flyers are also welcomed inside, ahead of Singapore Airlines flights

Fellow Star Alliance members Air Canada and United Airlines also have lounges in the same T2B satellite wing, so business class travellers and Star Alliance Gold-grade frequent flyers can easily sample all three lounges to find their favourite.

Singapore Airlines flies four times a day between London-Heathrow and Singapore, on a mix of Airbus A380s – equipped with superlative first class suites – and the Boeing 777.

Made my day - thanks Chris!

There in 3 weeks and was dreading the temporary lounge, even with the separate F section. 

Visited new lounge on opening day and enjoyed, however, disappointing that have reopened with the toilets and showers not working yet and being directed to the Premium Plaza lounge to use

Having just used the lounge yesterday, all I can say is it’s a HUGE disappointment. The lounge supporting the evening flight to Singapore was full the maximum with virtually no seats free anywhere. To use the showers the queue was 8 long - food was average and the air conditioning couldn’t handle the crowd.
