QT Singapore to debut September 2024
Third time’s the charm for the heritage building reborn as a luxury boutique hotel.
When one luxurious door closes, another glides open – and that’s certainly the case in Singapore, where what was once Accor’s So Singapore and then the Hotel Telegraph is set to become the QT Singapore.
Under any name this luxury property has always been something of a hidden gem in the Lion City.
That’s despite a convenient location in the heart of the financial district and across the road from the iconic Lau Pa Sat hawker centre, where the smoke and scent from the open-air Satay Street drift across the hotel’s rooftop swimming pool.
The boutique hotel is also an easy stroll to two stations on the MRT Downtown line plus the recently-opened Shenton Way station on the Thompson-East Coast line, which will eventually be extended to Changi Airport with direct links to the current Changi T2/T3 station and a new station for Changi Terminal 5.
The QT Singapore will undergo a refresh before an official ribbon-cutting and lion dancing mark its debut on September 16, 2024.
Interior designer Nic Graham is bringing a very QT touch to the interiors with what’s promised to be “ an eclectic blend of art, design, and innovation, evolving as part of the city-state's cultural fabric.”
The building will of course retain its distinguished colonial era façade, which originally housed the Eastern Extension Telegraph Company from 1927, later becoming the Cable and Wireless Building.
As the first QT hotel in Southeast Asia, the QT Singapore “will feature luxurious guestrooms and suites, gym and a rooftop pool for guests whilst boasting design-led public spaces, including a signature bar and grill and rooftop bar.”
At the other end of town, the iconic Grand Hyatt Singapore is expeced to emerge from its multi-million dollar makeover cocoon in July-August.
