The Langham Gold Coast officially welcomes first guests
Almost eight years in the making, the Gold Coast’s newest five star hotel is finally here.
Australia's Gold Coast is inviting travellers to step inside its first direct beach access resort in more than 30 years from today, with The Langham Gold Coast making its stunning debut.
Housed within the tallest of the Jewel towers – rising between Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach – the hotly-anticipated hotel is home to 339 rooms and suites, together with an array of dining and wellness offerings.
It joins renowned siblings The Langham Sydney, just a hop, skip and jump from Circular Quay in the leafy heart of The Rocks; and The Langham Melbourne, which gazes out across the Yarra River in bustling Southbank.
Developed by AW Holding Group, which is also behind the upcoming One Circular Quay in Sydney, the $1.4 billion Jewel project has been in the works for almost eight years, after breaking ground way back in 2014. It was originally scheduled to open in 2018.
First impressions suggest it’s been worth the wait, with The Langham Gold Coast its shining star. Read our in-depth review here.
John O’Shea, General Manager of The Langham Gold Coast, says he and the hotel team have been eagerly working behind closed doors to add the final touches and are excited to now offer guests a taste of The Langham's signature hospitality, with a local spin.
“Since first opening in London in 1865, The Langham has built an unmatched, global reputation for timeless elegance and a true 5-star experience and we are beyond thrilled to soon bring this legendary legacy to life in the heart of the Gold Coast,” O'Shea recounts.
“The Langham Gold Coast will bring together Langham’s global expertise in luxury hospitality and gastronomic dining with an iconic Gold Coast oceanfront location to provide a unique, one-of-a-kind hotel and dining and events experience,” he adds.
The hotel boasts an array of 17 room types and suites, each affording ocean or hinterland views and furnished with a bright and breezy coastal palette. Taking full advantage of the sub-tropical climate, it also features two swimming pools and a health club gazing out to the Pacific.
Perched on the 20th floor, the Chairman’s Ocean Suite is its most exclusive offering – a chic sanctuary with two bedrooms and lounges, a full-size study, dining area and butler’s pantry.
A grand marble bathroom with a circular tub, and a handy perch alongside for a glass of Champagne, completes the package.
Other rooms include the entry-level Superior Room, spacious Executive Ocean View Suites on the upper floors, and large Junior Ocean King Rooms with a generous entertaining area.
All rooms feature a 50-inch Samsung television with casting functionality, together with motorised sheer and blackout curtains, a Nespresso coffee machine, and smart room lighting.
As a nod to the Gold Coast's relaxed lifestyle, they also come with a pair of thongs.
The hotel will also manage the Jewel Residences: one, two, three and four bedroom apartments, each with a full kitchen stocked with Miele appliances and a laundry. Complimentary housekeeping is included every second day.
Beyond the rooms, there are multiple bar and dining options to tickle your taste buds, including all-day venue Akoya, where diners can also enjoy a Taittinger Champagne brunch every Sunday, and the relaxed beachfront cafe '26 & Sunny', serving tasty bites like poke bowls and katsu fish and chips.
Signature Cantonese venue T’ang Court opens September 1, while Coral Moon open-air cocktail bar, which will utilise its own herbs and botanicals grown onsite, will open in the spring.
Travellers with a sweet tooth are in luck too, with The Langham's famous High Tea – staples at its Sydney and Melbourne counterparts – making a welcome appearance at Palm Court.
Some of the decadent delights featured include a Fraser Coast spanner crab salad, cucumber and lemon myrtle sandwiches, and a pavlova topped with fresh fruit and vanilla whipped ganache.
Also debuting in the spring is Chuan Spa, which will offer pampering treatments guided by traditional Chinese medicine.
Members of The Langham’s ‘1865’ loyalty program can also enjoy exclusive benefits, with its top tier Voyager status unlocking room upgrades and a choice of welcome amenity after five stays or 15 nights.

Rumour mill on the Gold Coast had the Jewel tower had a giant microwave transmitter aimed out to sea on one of the top floors. Conspiracy theories on that was amazing.

My Wife & I love Langham Hotels. The service is second to none. When in Melbourne we stay at the Langham it is like a second home. Speaking of which we live on the Gold Coast and can't wait for the Langham to open here. We love the sophistication yet casual atmosphere. Mmm opening on 23rd June they must have known it is my birthday. We can't wait.
