Turkish Airlines unveils all-new Crystal Business Class

Turkish Airlines’ next-gen business class has at last broken cover ahead of its rollout across the Star Alliance member’s full Boeing 777 fleet, starting in early 2025.

Debuted at this week’s Farnborough International Airshow, where Qatar Airways’ Next Gen Qsuite was also revealed, the new Crystal Business Class is described by the airline as “more airy, flowy and brighter” than the previous 777 seat.

The staggered layout sees middle seats alternately paired and separated.

In a move sure to please past travellers, the outdated 2-3-2 layout has been ditched out for a more passenger-focused 1-2-1, while privacy has seen a substantial boost, through high walls, sliding doors and retractable middle dividers.

Modern touches such as wireless charging, universal AC power and two USB Type-C ports are all present and accounted for too, alongside a 22” entertainment screen and noise-cancelling headphones.

When sleep beckons, passengers can convert their 23”-wide seat to a fully flat bed with the touch of a button, with a supplied mattress topper, blanket and large pillow dialling up the comfort. 

If it all looks familiar, there’s a good reason – it’s based on the Safran Unity platform, which is also found on Japan Airlines’ Airbus A350, as well as Air India’s new twin-aisle business class and Qantas’ upcoming Project Sunrise A350s.

Rather than a pure carbon copy, distinct styling choices have been made by the airline’s subsidiary TCI Aircraft Interiors, including sleek rose gold trims, marble-look benches and a sweeping textured pattern gracing the outside of the suite.

For comparison, here’s what the current gen Boeing 777 business class looks like:

While initially debuting on the 777, it will eventually crown Turkish Airlines’ ultra-long range Airbus A350-1000 jets, which are slated to begin non-stop flights to Sydney and Melbourne from late 2026. 

The carrier expects to have 50% of its fleet upgraded by the end of 2026, while fast, free and unlimited WiFi will also roll out across its entire fleet “within two years, starting from the end of 2025.”
