Woolworths and Qantas are about to raise the ‘everyday rewards’ ante with next month's release of a new platinum MasterCard offering 1 Qantas frequent flyer point for every dollar spent.
Qantas points will be uncapped, meaning there’s no limit on the number of points that can be earned using the card.
And as the card doubles as a Woolworths 'Everday Reward' card, scanning the barcode on the back will also credit frequent flyer points to your account when you shop at any store within the Woolworths group, at a rate of one point per dollar above the $30 minimum spend.
This means you're effectively 'double-dipping' by gaining extra Qantas points from Woolworths on top of the uncapped point-per-dollar basis.
Speaking to Australian Business Traveller, Woolworths’ spokeswoman Claire Buchanan confirmed that the Everyday Rewards Qantas MasterCard would launch on November 1st, 2010, with applications available online at everydayrewards.com.au.
Woolworths will throw in a bonus 16,000 points for applicants who sign up by January 31st 2011 and make their first spend before March 31st.
HSBC is the issuing agent for the card, and will assess applicants based on criteria such as annual income, which must exceed $50,000.
The card will carry an annual $89 fee and include access to MasterCard’s 24/7 Concierge telephone service.

A friend on Twitter pointed this out tome, it sounds MUCH better than the current everyday rewards card because of the point per dollar deal AND double-dipping too!!
