New Zealand’s Christchurch Airport will feature new on-site lodgings from late next year with the opening of the Novotel Christchurch Airport hotel.
With construction kicking off in May 2016, the 200-room property will reside directly next to the international terminal and is being designed by Warren and Mahoney Architects: the same team behind the well-known Novotel Auckland Airport hotel.
As you’d expect, guests and visitors can dine and drink in the hotel’s restaurant and bar, with function and meeting room space also available.
“The airport’s investment in new services and increasing airline capacity suggests that the time is right for a new hotel in the precinct,” said Chris Sedgwick, AccorHotels’ SVP Operations New Zealand, Fiji and French Polynesia.
Christchurch Airport CEO Malcolm Jones added that “corporate and leisure travellers arrive here on trans-Tasman flights late at night, some around midnight, and leave early in the morning.
“In both cases, they expect to be able to stay overnight on the airport campus. From the end of next year, many more will be able to do that.”
Members of the Le Club AccorHotels loyalty program are expected to be able to earn and redeem points at the Novotel Christchurch Airport hotel once opened.
