Qantas begins daily flights to Geraldton, boosts Exmouth services
IN BRIEF | Qantas is ramping up the WA footprint of it regional QantasLink arm with today's debut of daily services between Perth and the mid-west hub of Geraldton as well as the introduction of new aircraft for the Perth-Exmouth route.
The shuttle service between Perth and Geraldton will run twice a day on weekdays and once a day on Saturday and Sunday. Passengers will enjoy a new Bombardier Q400 'turboprop' which seats 72 passengers.
QantasLink will also introduce the Q400 aircraft on services between Perth and Exmouth, to complement the existing but well-worn Boeing 717 aircraft.
As of January 2013 QantasLink's Perth-Exmouth service will be boosted to 11 return flights per week: twice daily from Monday to Friday, with one service on Sunday.
According to Qantas Group Executive Rob Gurney, the QantasLink flights "have been timed to offer our customers simple and straightforward connections to Qantas’ domestic and international networks."
Geraldton is currently served only by Skywest, which operates in alliance with Virgin Australia.
