IN BRIEF | Qantas Clubs around Australia will see a new addition to the menu this week – it's the 'classic American hot dog'.
It's a nod to this week's opening of the Qantas Los Angeles Business Lounge, with Qantas framing the dogs as "everyone’s favourite Californian inspired cuisine".
They'll be served with sauerkraut, mustard and ketchup from 3pm to 5pm this Wednesday June 18th, Thursday June 19th and Friday 20th "in all Qantas Clubs across the country", Qantas tells us.
It's part of a series of 'pop-up dining experiences' for the Qantas Club lounges, which have previously included gourmet meat pies and arancini balls from Neil Perry's Rosetta Ristorante.

Really,Forget about hotdogs and get genuine Aussie pie,s.The QF domestic business domestic class lounges are going down hill but a walk thru the other week shows the Qantas clubs are far worse.Give me a break.A friend pays close to $500 for his QF Club membership and that what you get.

Robert, be fair. It's better value than AA's Admiral's Club.

Overall I think Qantas and Virgin offer pretty good domestic lounge offerings in comparison to experiences overseas. There are some areas which can be improved, but we are pretty well looked after in general and should take 2 seconds to remember that every now and again.

The QC (or even a domestic J) Lounge is a place, away from the 'main public terminal spaces', that provides complimentary food/beverages, work areas/relax areas etc..before/after flights ..along with other benefits (checkin/luggage etc)...the total 'package' is what you're paying for....and by all means, if you feel you aren't 'getting your moneys worth' in food/booze..go elsewhere.. The QC is not there solely so you cant stuff yourself full of food/booze. (usually by those who are too cheap to pay for anything elsewhere)...Many others do feel the cost of membership is worth it because of it's TOTAL benefit.

and at the end of the day.....they can't please everyone..if 'real' meat pies are your thing...that's fine...but don't chuck a hissy because QF won't provide them for you!

Love a bit of marketing spin that dresses up a dowdy product (aka hot dogs) as something special !!! Good old QF haha.

I like the idea of QANTAS serving American Hot Dogs as much as I liked John Travolta giving the safety video (and having 3 American judges on The Voice, for that matter). Maybe we're all supposed to be international now.

I think we can talk about this without put-downs and gross mis-statements.
Yes, Australia has better domestic airline lounges than America does (but then so do many other countries).
But its fair to say that there is an extreme difference of standards between a Domestic Qantas Business Lounge (open to QFF Platinums and OWE, amoung others) and Qantas' flagship International First lounges (open to the same people).
I find that interesting, because they service the same people really, and while this group no doubt fly more domestically, quite a lot of International flights get done by this group too. So I find it odd that this lower standard exists, especially since there are few paid first pax in the First lounge.
Personally, I think Qantas should extend its limited bistro service offered in domestic CL lounges to the domestic Business Lounges (if only to get economy of scale benefits to this service) and eliminate some of the current high wastage buffet food.
On a comment made, I'd think if you were cheap, you wouldn't be a QFF Platinum nor a J class pax, and therefore access to the Qantas Domestic Business lounge wouldn't be available to you anyway. Spendthrifty don't pay Australian business fares.

WOW 17 responses all over a hot dog? If you dont like hot dogs dont eat it, and if enough people dont eat them QF will get rid of them and try something new.
