Alongside Qantas' new Brisbane domestic business class lounge open from today, frequent flyers can also enjoy a fast-track experience from the airport's departures hall to the lounge.
Dubbed a Premium Lounge Entry, it's located at the far left end of the domestic terminal alongside the current security screening area.
But the new digs are much nicer, and a definite time-saver for the busy business traveller.
For starters, the Premium lounge Entry has its own baggage drop facility – something missing from Virgin Australia's similar setup at Brisbane, which is for hand-luggage only.
There's also a trio of self-service checkin machines (in case you haven't already checked in online or via the Qantas app on your smartphone)...
... plus a dedicated security screening lane.
(Australian Business Traveller has been told that the space has provision for installing a second security lane, which we're sure will be needed during peak travel periods.)
After that, make your way to the escalator and glide up to the new 'lounge precinct'.
That precinct includes the Qantas business lounge, a soon-to-be-refreshed Qantas Club and from mid-year, a swish new invitation-only Chairman's Lounge (which is being built in the footprint of the former business lounge).
The Premium Lounge Entry is open seven days a week, from one hour prior to the first Qantas departure.
It's open to business class travellers, Qantas Platinum and Gold frequent flyers and their Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire equivalents, Qantas Club members and Platinum frequent flyers with Emirates' Skywards and China Eastern's Eastern Miles rewards schemes.
Qantas will also open a revamped valet facility with walk-in access to the premium lounge entry...
... but this won’t be available as a general drive-up facility for taxis and Uber drop-offs; it will be restricted to Qantas Valet customers.

You're right about the extra security lane required when its busy, even now the Gold lane is longer then the normal lane at different times, do we know if they are keeping the Gold lane at the existing screening points.

All lounge entry is now through the premium entry so the line was very long this morning. Might be quicker to use the old entry as there is still a J screening line there.

Are you able to take a guest with you through this lane who is travelling on QF but they are not FF? I'm a Qantas Club member and Gold with them.

I took my non-status visitor through with me today - QF rep checked my boarding pass, but didn't ask to see his....not sure if there's an official policy though. Long line today & the scanner was very sensitive - had to take the RM boots off for the first time in years - caused plenty of delays. Great facility though

Went through this and into the new lounge today. Long line, they need that second security channel ASAP. But the new business lounge is astounding, no way would I have thought I was in the space occupied by the old lounge. Tasty Mexican food too!

Good that you enjoyed. Ausbt is reporting that the old biz lounge is where the relocated chairman's lounge will go, so not the same space or exact same footprint of the old lounge.

Steve, this is a new space. They have extended the entire terminal building by about 40-50 meters at the Qantas end to enable the new business lounge. It took them about 18 months to construct. The old business lounge is getting turned into the new Chairman's lounge and the existing Qantas Club is being upgraded and refreshed in it's existing space.

Will be using this mid year and looking forward to the improved experience. In the past I found the QANTAS Club lounge on a par with the old bizzo lounge so the upgrade will be appreciated.
