Qantas, Oroton partner on new business class amenity kit

Qantas and Oroton have joined forces on a new 'limited edition' business class amenity kit.

Dubbed the Business Sleep Collection and being distributed from this weekend, the stylish black zippered bag is unmistakably Oroton and is sure to become a prized post-trip present for non-travelling partners, friends and family.

Now the bad news: not every passenger at the pointy end will get the signature Oroton pack to take home.

The kit is exclusive to flights departing from Asia on Qantas' upgraded Airbus A330 jets with the all-new Business Suite business class seats (show below).

As of now that's only Singapore, and in fact only some Singapore-Sydney and Singapore-Melbourne flights, although those flights – and your chance of snaring this elegant bag – will increase as more of the upgraded A330s join the Qantas fleet.

(Travellers on A330 flights to Asia will be offered the current Kate Spade and Jack Spade bags, as shown below.)

“Oroton is an Australian company that is focussed on relaxed luxury, and that aligns with what we want to offer in our business class cabin” Kylie Morris, Qantas’ Head of Creative Development and Customer Experience, tells Australian Business Traveller.

The limited edition Business Sleep Collection amenity kit is built around a compact unisex Oroton bag.

The kit is "stylish and functional, and will fit the electronics and travel essentials our Business customers now take with them" Morris adds.

Inside you'll find a pair of Qantas business class pyjamas...

... plus Aurora Spa skincare products (Sweet Orange & Shea Hand Cream, Vanilla & Orange Lip Moisturiser and Ultra Hydrating Face Moisturiser)...

... alongside the usual toothbrush, toothpaste, earplugs, eye mask and ?socks.

A large size of Qantas’ business class pyjamas is bundled into the bag, although a smaller pair is available on request.

The new Oroton kit will debut as part of Qantas’ new Sleep Sooner service which will see geared towards helping travellers get to sleep faster on overnight flight from Asia.

It also ties into the Business Suite’s ability to be reclined for taxi, take-off and landing.

Putting the PJs into a Oroton pack certainly looks classier than a plastic bag - good idea (even though I turn down the PJs on Qantas, so I'll just be removing mine and giving them back). It looks better than the pencil case, so look forward to getting mine.

The pyjama fits very nicely but I don't think the AA cabin crew were too pleased about us wearing them on a recent flight. Might opt for my discreet non-branded one next time!

I'm of the view that if you like them, find them comfortable, then who cares (AA are OneWorld partners after all). But the current Qantas J PJs are hard to miss, branding wise lol.

For me, the last Qantas PJs I loved were the old grandpa top blue First pyjamas of which I had worn every pair collected to rags (and alas are no more). I've yet to find another airline PJ set or sleeper suit as good or as comfortable.

But whatever you do, don't wear 'em on a trip to your local Westfield like one guy I saw in Chatswood a while back.

Admittedly it was only the top part, but still, it's not really acceptable day wear...

I love my QF PJ's and so do all my family and friends who are always asking for more! They are definitely the most comfortable J PJ's out there and I do wear mine on flights with any airline that don't provide them (hopefully AA will get the hint for those overnight flights between Europe and the US)!

No good and No Bother!

Poor old Perth got the shaft with no Qantas flights. But no matter WE have all switched to Singapore airlines anyway. Cheaper, Cleaner, More Flights. Now all we need is for Qantas to pull out of Perth totally and just stick to being an east coast operation. So long as they take Jetstar with them
