Royal Brunei Airlines will introduce direct flights from Melbourne to the Brunei capital Bandar Seri Begawan from March 29, 2011. The flights will depart from the Brunei on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Royal Brunei already runs direct services to Brisbane and Perth, with the Melbourne link bringing the tally to fourteen weekly Australian flights.
Riaz Moiz, Royal Brunei Airlines' Executive Vice President of Commercial and Planning, announced the new service will “meet demand for seats to Melbourne from across our Asian and UK networks, while also expanding our presence in Australia. Trade links between the two countries will also be enhanced.”
Along with increasing the level of convenience for those travelling to Brunei, Melbournians will also be able to take advantage of the Bandar Seri Begawan hub airport for flights through to Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
