Singapore Airlines adds convenient flights to Adelaide, Brisbane

Singapore Airlines passengers travelling from Adelaide and Brisbane to Singapore will have three extra flights per week to choose from this summer.

The airline is bringing additional flights in for the peak summer travel season, but they're well-timetabled to help get you home from an international business trip faster, get you a better layover in Singapore for flying meetings or leave you time to do some shopping.

Adelaide

The changes for Adelaide passengers will be the most noticeable, since the South Australian capital only has one daily flight for the rest of the year.

To Adelaide, new Flight SQ277 leaves Singapore at 2035 on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays, getting you into Adelaide at 0605 the next day.

That's over three hours earlier than the later SQ279, the daily flight, which leaves Singapore at 2350 and arrives into Adelaide at 0920 the next day. So if you're heading straight back from an overseas trip, you could be in the office for the start of the day.

From Adelaide, the new SQ276 flight leaves at 0720 and arrives in Singapore at 1200 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays. With a 1200 arrival in Singapore, that opens up a wide range of same-day connections.

Those connections wouldn't be possible on the regular SQ278, which is five hours later. It leaves Adelaide at 1240 and arrives in Singapore at 1720.

Brisbane

Since Brisbane has three regular daily flights for 24 per week, an additional three flights a week won't make a huge amount of difference.

Here are the the schedules so you can see how new flights SQ247 and SQ248 fit in.

• SQ255 leaves Singapore at 0010 and arrives in Brisbane at 1020
• SQ245 leaves Singapore at 0950 and arrives in Brisbane at 2000
• SQ247 (new) leaves Singapore at 2000 on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and arrives in Brisbane at 0610 the next day
• SQ235 leaves Singapore at 2115 and arrives in Brisbane at 0725 the next day

• SQ256 leaves Brisbane at 0910 and arrives in Singapore at 1500
• SQ236 leaves Brisbane at 1440 and arrives in Singapore at 2030
• SQ248 (new) leaves Brisbane at 1630 on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and arrives in Singapore at 2220
• SQ246 leaves Brisbane at 2345 and arrives in Singapore at 0535 the next morning.

Which business class seats will you find on board?

The downside to the new flights are the seats on board the planes that will fly the routes. While the Airbus A330s used on all the existing Brisbane and Adelaide flights have the new regional business class, both new flights will be on Singapore Airlines' Boeing 777-200 planes.

Singapore's 777-200s are generally older and have three different varieties of business class seat across the fleet. It's unfortunately unpredictable which one will be on a flight. So if in-flight entertainment and the latest seat trumps potential schedule improvements for you, pick one of the existing flights.
