IN BRIEF | Singapore Airlines has released apps for both the iPhone and Android smartphones, along with a new mobile-friendly website (at mobile.singaporeair.com).
Admittedly, these debutante apps are somewhat limited in their capabilities.
All you can do in these first versions is mobile check-in; grab a mobile boarding pass (and only on flights from Singapore, Hong Kong and Frankfurt, but not if your flight from any of those airports is going to the US); check the status of your flight; and call up a directory of SQ offices around the world.
Still, that's a pretty neat set for starters.
Things will pick up "in subsequent releases" of the apps and the new mobile site, the airline promises, with the ability to check flight schedules: make and change bookings, including redemption bookings; access your KrisFlyer statements and "extend expiring miles".
To grab the new SQ apps: click here if you're got an iPhone, and here for Android smartphones.

It's a shame that Singapore Airlines doesn't do something about fixing its error-prone web site. Since being rolled out in May 2011 it's been a complete disaster as documented in the following travel forum thread:
