Singapore Airlines: no 'Book The Cook' for New York-Singapore flights

Singapore Airlines says it has no current plans to introduce its Book The Cook service for the New York-Singapore leg of The World's Longest Flight©.

The popular advance meal order service boasts a dazzling choice between 50 dishes on business class flights out of Singapore, with over a dozen on the airline's daily Airbus A380 flight from New York's JFK Airport to Singapore via Frankfurt.

However, the 18-hour non-stop trek of SQ21 starts at Newark Airport in New Jersey, where no arrangements for pre-ordered Book The Cook meals have been put in place for either business class or premium economy.

"At the moment, Book The Cook is not available on flights out of Newark, as we have recently appointed the caterer with the launch of the new nonstop flights," a spokesperson for Singapore Airlines told Australian Business Traveller.

It's believed that the airline and its chosen caterer are still in the trial phase of their commercial relationship, with  a local launch of Book The Cook sitting further down the to-do list.

Things should be better for passengers on the new Airbus A350 non-stop flights from Los Angeles commencing November 2, as Singapore Airlines already flies from LAX and lists ten business class Book The Cook dishes (plus eight in premium economy) for pre-ordering.
