Hyatt's luxury Andaz brand is bound for Sydney, and will crown a 55-story tower in the heart of the harbour city's financial district when it opens in 2022.
The Andaz Sydney will be the first Australian member of the stylish 'luxury boutique' portfolio, with 400 rooms and suites spread across 38 floors, topped by a rooftop restaurant, bar and garden.
Key design features of the 226-metre tall tower include roof gardens, green walls and generous landscaping as part of the building’s integrated sustainability strategy, childcare facilities.
Woods Bagot is charged with designing the striking $700m building at 4-6 Bligh Street, with one address used for the Andaz and the other serving retail and commercial tenants – including co-working spaces – located up to the 12th floor.
Hyatt boasts the Andaz will be Sydney’s first luxury hotel in 20 years, while Woods Bagot says the building's soaring "sculptural form will contribute to the city skyline and respond to its metropolitan context."
“The building will be instantly recognisable from every angle, as the tower changes form and emphasis in response to context, orientation and internal function,” suggests Woods Bagot principal and Sydney studio Design Leader Ian Lomas.

Great news, although may need to amend the comment re "Sydney’s first luxury hotel in 20 years". In the heart of the financial district yes, but Sofitel Darling Harbour broke the drought for Sydney.

Darling harbor is not CBD IMHO. With the traffic in Sydney the way it is at the moment, it makes a massive difference. Walking to meetings from Darling Harbour in rain or humidity is not fun either!

Well that was Hyatt who "boasted" it though. Not the writer of the article. Haha.

This rendering makes the building look totally inappropriate for its setting height wise. It will dominate some of the iconic lower rise buildings around it such as 1 Bligh Street, 1 O'Connell Street, Chifley Tower, Aurora Place, the old QANTAS building and the Sofitel Wentworth. Hope this is just an eggageration by the graphic designer!

Would be great if hotels like this were double glazed but 99% of hotels around Aust and the world seem not to be, and thus are very noisy.

agree - I am on L19 at Le Meridian HCMC and the incessant horn tooting of traffic infiltrates the room.

Right next door to the Sofitel Wentworth? That's going to hurt.

Andaz is a great additional to Sydney - Hyatt have really done a great job with the Andaz brand - If Andaz Singapore is any benchmark this will be a refreshing 5 star option in the CBD
