By John Walton, February 20 2012
IN BRIEF | Skywest has picked up the Perth-Derby (Curtin) Western Australia government-awarded air route, with the first flight departing this morning, Monday 20 February.
Skywest plans to run the five times a week for at least three months -- the initial term of the award by the WA Department of Transport.
Flight XR23 departs Perth at 0600, arriving in Derby (Curtin) at 0845. XR24 turns around for Perth at 0930, arriving at 1215.
Skywest has yet to confirm what aircraft it will use for the nearly 1800km flights, which last 2h45 in each direction.
The route had previously been run by Air Australia (the former Strategic Airlines), which collapsed last Friday.
