Auckland's Sofitel SO hotel will finally open its designer doors on Monday 19 November 2018, and it looks to be everything that travellers would expect from Accor's luxury boutique brand.
Built on the site of the former Reserve Bank at 67 Customs Street, the long-awaited SO Auckland will be a welcome addition to the city's hotel set and one just seven similarly hip SO hotels worldwide.
The location is about as downtown as you can get, in the heart of the CBD's Britomart district and within walking distance to waterfront cafes, bars and restaurants.
The SO Auckland's ground floor has been creatively fitted out by Dutch design house Moooi, replacing the traditional lobby for a bar, while unique and locally-inspired 'theming' of the hotel has been done by WORLD New Zealand and draws on Auckland's volcanic origin for its avant garde look.
The 130 guest rooms are fitted out with strong curves and splashes of colour and will feature all the mod-cons that business travellers would expect.
The bathrooms exude elegance, and some offer sweeping views across Auckland CBD.
Guests can unwind on the HI SO rooftop with its vista of Rangitoto Island and the City of Sails; the 15th floor will also house the Harbour Society restaurant, helmed by French chef Marc de Passorio.
Other features of the SO Auckland include a Club Signature lounge, SO Spa, SO Fit gym and heated pool.
