Star Alliance may tap India's two newest terminals – Delhi's T3 and Mumbai's T2 – as hubs on the back of Air India's membership.
The coalition has identified both as "potential seamless hubs" to be developed in 2015, according to The Times of India, with the aim of streamlining transfers between international and domestic flights, in a similar way to Star's slick super-hubs such as London's Heathrow T2 terminal.
"Air India, the home carrier at these two places, is now our member" said Justin Erbacci, Star Alliance's VP Customer Experience.
"It is possible to make airports seamless hubs with the help of the home carrier. If everyone agrees, we will go to all stakeholders at the airport like ground handler, airlines and identify the bottlenecks in transfers and offer solutions."
