Starwood brings The Luxury Collection to Singapore in 2017

Starwood and Marriott will bring the high-end Luxury Collection brand to Singapore next year with the opening of The Duxton Club, a Luxury Collection Hotel, following a multimillion-dollar renovation of traditional shophouses in the Tanjong Pagar district.

Split across two pre-war colonial sites, guests will find The Duxton House on Duxton Road opening in early 2017, and The Duxton Terrace on Murray Street open its doors in July, both bordering the city’s Chinatown area.

At The Duxton House, 50 rooms are spread across eight interconnected three-storey buildings, joined by a destination restaurant, signature bar and a private cigar room in designs by Anouska Hempel – best-known by Australians as the store and outlet designer for Louis Vuitton.

Less than 200 metres away, The Duxton Terrace offers 138 guestrooms across 14 adjoining buildings, which are believed to have served as army barracks, hawker food alleys, restaurants and office space, before being redesigned as a hotel by Jacques Garcia.

With a portfolio of work including the restorations of The Louvre and The Palace of Versailles in France, Garcia’s design will allow for five food and beverage venues here including a signature bar, a separate lobby bar, an all-day dining restaurant, a poolside bar and an exclusive member’s club.

Joining that, an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre and also a cigar room, with guests of both The Duxton Club locations enjoying full use of the facilities at both premises.

Once opened next year, members of the Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty program will be able to earn and redeem Starpoints at the hotel, with Gold and Platinum members enjoying extra privileges such as room upgrades and welcome gifts.

If not mistaken, one of them will not be Luxury Collection but Tribute Portfolio.

Starwood/Marriott says the entire property (split across two street addresses) will belong to The Luxury Collection.
