Members of Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) can earn double, triple or even a flat 3,000 Starpoints for stays at participating hotels in the Middle East, Europe and Africa until December 31.
The number of Starpoints earned depends on both the hotel and the room type.
For example, at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Dubai, SPG members can earn double Starpoints on Club rooms, triple Starpoints on suites and 3,000 Starpoints on Executive suites.
Further afield at the W London in Leicester Square, double and triple Starpoints can be had on ‘Wonderful’ and ‘Fabulous’ rooms, respectively, while 3,000 points are served up with suite bookings.
To see what’s available on your travels, just head to the Starwood Earn Your Dreams website to browse by destination:
Bonus Starpoints points are awarded on the base-level SPG earning rates – so if you’re at the beginner ‘Preferred’ tier, you’ll indeed be earning double or triple points.
Gold, Platinum and above-Platinum members of Starwood Preferred Guest already earn bonuses of 50-100% on their travels, calculated on the program’s base rate of two Starpoints per US dollar.
The same is true of the promotion – so a Gold SPG member spending the equivalent of US$200 on a triple points rate would begin by earning 400 Starpoints at the standard US$1=2 Starpoints rate.
With triple points, that becomes 1,200 Starpoints, and with the existing 50% bonus for Gold members (calculated on the base rate), that comes in at a total bounty of 1,400 Starpoints.
During the booking stage, keep your eyes peeled for details of the bonus points. You’ll find them next to the room rate:
Rates with bonus points are subject to availability and blackout dates may apply, so be sure to hunt down that tick before you click.

Too bad this promotion doesn't extend to South Pacific!

Definitely... but at least it's useful if you're on QF1 or QF9 to Dubai and are stopping over there before flying onwards to Europe... you could earn triple points both there and at your final destination!
