Starwood Hotels and Resorts will bring a new ‘luxury lifestyle’ hotel to Spain in 2018 with the opening of the W Madrid, located on Plaza de Canalejas in the centre of the fashion capital’s thriving restaurant and entertainment district.
The hotel will feature 141 guestrooms including 20 suites and one ‘Extreme Wow Suite’ – the W brand’s interpretation of the traditional Presidential Suite – plus a rooftop bar, outdoor pool deck, a ‘FIT’ workout facility, two meeting rooms and a signature but as-yet-unnamed restaurant.
Housed within an imposing 19th century building that previously served as a hotel, the property will be fully restored of its historical elements but combined with the bold, vibrant design that the W brand is known for.
“We believe that the W brand is the perfect fit for this historic property and look forward to seeing W Madrid emerge as one of Spain’s most sought after and admired hotels,” said Harry Mohinani, CEO of Merryland Inversiones which owns the hotel.
W Madrid will complement the beachfront W Barcelona which opened in 2009, with members of the Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty program able to earn and redeem Starpoints at this hotel.
