Useful web app takes the hassle out of planning across time zones

Trying to beat the headache-inducing task of scheduling meetings across timezones? Frequent international travellers should keep Every Time Zone bookmarked!

It's a simple website (with an iPad app also available) that displays the current time in your location, based on your computer's clock, along with a dozen other timezones.

You can see with a click and a glance what time (say) 4.30pm in Singapore will be in New York and London.

It's helpfully colour-shaded to help you spot the difference between the work day, the shoulder period where you'll owe someone a beer for getting in early or staying late.

The green slider, which is the time of your planned meeting, will slide to around 24 hours before and after the current time in your time zone.

Ironically, Every Time Zone doesn't cover every time zone. You get:

  • San Francisco
  • Chicago
  • New York
  • Rio
  • London
  • Vienna
  • Mumbai
  • Singapore
  • Tokyo
  • Sydney
  • Auckland

While there's no way to add extra timezones it's pretty useful for at-a-glance scheduling, especially that confusing over-the-dateline calculation to the US, where San Francisco is eighteen hours behind Sydney.

Seems a little pointless if it has fixed timezones which cannot be edited or added to.  For the iPad I suggest the Alarm Clock Companys useful app, World Clock app which allows more times zones, your choice of time zones, maps, clocks, a chart similar to that shown in the article, alarm clocks and you can manage the time zones in to a list of preffered times so your potin of origin can be first followed by each consecitive destination rather than have them fixed on the app writers decision.  Well worth the couple of dollars.  Not sure if  it can be used on a normal notebook or macbook as I always carry my iPad but very user friendly on that and better than the app in this article.

And I need to check my spelling more frequently, any app for that?
