Virgin Australia is expanding its codeshare arrangements with Delta Air Lines within the United States to cover three new destinations from Los Angeles – Nashville, Kansas City and Raleigh/Durham.
Flights between Los Angeles and Nashville will operate daily, Los Angeles to Kansas City services will run twice a day and 10 flights per week will be available on the Los Angeles to Raleigh/Durham route.
Launched in 2011, Virgin Australia’s tie-up with Delta now allows Australian travellers to book flights to over 245 North and Central American destinations on a single airline ticket – over half of the roughly 450 destinations on Virgin’s world map.
Virgin Australia flies to Los Angeles from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne to Los Angeles, while Delta has its own flights between Sydney and LA on which Virgin Australia codeshares.
Onwards from Los Angeles, passengers can connect with both Delta and Virgin America, earning Velocity points and status credits whether travelling on a VA, DL or VX flight number.
However, come October 26 2014, Melbourne residents will need to connect via Sydney or Brisbane to reach the States, with Virgin Australia axing direct flights between the Victorian Capital and Los Angeles in favour of daily flights from Brisbane.

Too bad MEL pax won't benefit as such, I much rather take a non-stop MEL-LAX, then make 2 stops to my final destination in the US (other than LA).
VA has screwed MEL pax for Nth America, and sadly I won't be fooled in transiting in SYD & BNE. Total lost of confidence in VA long haul.

Oh diddums - think of the extra status credits. Just returned from USA with VA Business and Delta Business Elite/First all the way - fantastic compared to Qantas/American - eeeekk. Or United - crap food and giant ice cream/ apple pie desserts with half a can of spray cream - and they call it Business!! Delta's Business elite cross country service and food is pretty much parallel with that of VA coast to coast - the best in the US

Does anyone else think the Delta flight attendants dress in the picture above is simply gorgeous?
What a cute little red number! Simple and elegant. I'd imagine it would look pretty decent on a plus size lady as well. And none of that handkerchief around the neck; a much neater streamlined look.
I was on a Qantas flight over the weekend and one of the flight attendants chose not to wear the handkerchief. What a difference it makes to the whole look. Meanwhile her larger colleagues were in those white shirts and vest...I've got three words for you...StJohn Ambulance Brigade.
Hint for Qantas: In the future design the outfits with the plus size crew in mind. Not everyone is waif thin or built like Miranda Kerr (nor should they be! we're not Singapore Airlines!)
