Cathay Pacific opens new, larger Tokyo Narita lounge

Cathay Pacific continues to reboot its global lounge network with the return of its Tokyo Narita lounge, but in a new location.

Cathay has taken over the former American Airlines Admirals Club, which the US carrier closed in early 2020 when all its flights shifted across to Tokyo Haneda.

Frequent travellers from Narita will welcome the larger space – which can accommodate some 265 passengers across its 1235m² (13,300ft2) footprint – as well as the panoramic views of the airfield afforded by oversized windows which also let natural light fill the space.

Expect Cathay's Narita refurbishment to make the most of the lounge's airside aspect.

The lounge’s location – in Terminal 2 near gate 71 – is also handily close to security as well as the departure gates used by many Oneworld member airlines.

Cathay advises its opening hours are from 7.30am to 6pm daily, with access for business class passengers and top-tier Cathay and Oneworld frequent flyers.

Vivian Lo, Cathay’s General Manager for Customer Experience & Design, tells Executive Traveller the Tokyo Narita lounge will eventually be given a glamorous makeover to match the contemporary look of other Cathay lounges – including its sibling at Haneda, where the Ilse Crawford-styled template debuted in December 2014.

As with all Cathay Pacific business class lounges, Narita is also in line for a hip Noodle Bar.

"Under our current plan we’re not immediately renovating that, but we took that space because it is very suitable for the Cathay template,” Lo explains.

“So we will start by opening that with simple renovation at this stage; it’s our plan to (fully) renovate that into the future.”

As previously reported, Lo also expects Cathay’s Hong Kong flagship The Pier First lounge to open by mid-year, along with The Wing Business.

These will complete the airlines’ home ground portfolio following the reopening of The Wing First, The Pier Business and most recently The Deck.
