Cathay Pacific's first Airbus A350-1000 will arrive June 20
EXCLUSIVE | Cathay Pacific will take delivery of its first Airbus A350-1000 on June 19, ahead of flights to Washington DC and potentially Sydney in the later half of 2018.
The A350-1000 is a stretched version of the A350-900 which is already well-established in the Cathay Pacific fleet and currently flies to Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
It carries some 50 more passengers than the A350-900, but foregoes first class for a three-class layout using the same updated A350 version of Cathay Pacific's highly-regarded Airbus 330 and Boeing 777 business class seat...
... along with the A350-900's all-new premium economy seat.
Also on offer will be inflight Internet, with free access to the BBC, CNN and Euronews channels and Internet connection available at US$10 per hour or – much better value – US$20 for the entire flight.
Cathay Pacific plans to take 20 of the A350-1000s over the coming years, which will be followed by 21 of Boeing's next-gen Boeing 777-9 jets from 2021 – with the 777-9s introducing new first class suites and business class seats for the Oneworld member.

There is a chance some or all of the 777s will be deferred or cancelled. New CX chief has already indicated that, as he seeks to right-size the airline, the A350 is more of the type of aircraft he believes he can make money with compared with the larger 777X.

Interesting. When/where was this indication given?

The 777X is most likely going to replace to 777W?

The premium economy seat is new to the A350, but not all-new to the A350-1000. Just clarifying it's not an "all-new" seat.

The 'all-new' is meant to indicate 'new-ness' compared to the Airbus A330s and Boeing 777, not against the A350-900s, but yeah, could be read a different way so will tweak that :)

There isn’t anything “new” besides the aircraft variant. All the products are the “latest” type

We demand an exercise space in cattle class. Both for passenger relief from confinement to a seat, however well designed, and to reduce the risk of dvt. A small area for standing and stretching with access to self serve water or coffee would be most welcome. On the A350 900 there is a small area aft of the rear port toilet, but need better.

Hope they do a better effort with J seat trims than those in the current A350s.
